Luther will return to BBC later next year

Feeling a bit down after yesterday’s news of a U.S. Luther remake? Fear not, as today the BBC have confirmed that the man himself will return to UK screens later next year.

The award-winning show, starring Idris Elba as detective John Luther, will return for 2 special episodes, with the story picking up where last years series 3 finale left us.Even though last year’s Series 3 was billed as the final series, there has always been speculation that the detective would return. Cross and Elba have both teased the possibility of a prequel film for quite some time, but it seems they have found more room for Luther to grow.

“Luther is coming back where he belongs. Back to the BBC. Back to London. And back to work,” said creator Neil Cross.

There is no news as yet as to whether fan favourite Alice (Ruth Morgan), but with filming not starting until March next year, we’re sure more details will be revealed in time.
