If you can’t get enough of Kurt Russell‘s distinctive whiskers and him been in a Western you’ll love him in his next film Bone Tomahawk.Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight it was all about revenge, plenty of gore but Bone Tomahawk the gore is there again in a cannibalistic nature. Ahead of it’s UK release later this month we have a new poster which Russell takes centre stage.
When a group of cannibal savages kidnaps settlers from the small town of Bright Hope, an unlikely team of gunslingers, led by Sheriff Franklin Hunt (Kurt Russell), sets out to bring them home. But their enemy is more ruthless than anyone could have imagined, putting their mission – and survival itself – in serious jeopardy.
Since we first heard about this meaty horror western we’ve heard nothing but good thing and even more when The Works announced the UK release date. Rarely does one film intriguing two sets of genre fan at once like this one and both genre haven’t had the best of times recently so coming together could help both. Since the 1980’s the Westerns have been rare, but demands of delivering something truly different are high on the agenda. They are becoming more political, broody more violent. It’s a challenge all film genres face these days and for Craig Zahler’s directorial it’s an impressive first film that will win him fans everywhere.
Co-starring Richard Jenkins, Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox, Sean Young, David Arquette, Lili Simmons and Fred Melamed. Bone Tomahawk will get an limited UK cinema release from 19th February.
