James Gunn Updates On the DC Universe
James Gunn has once again clarified the status of several major DC projects, providing fans with updates on Superman, Batman and Clayface. Dark Horizons highlighted these comments following Gunn’s recent online responses.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Clayface film, centred on the classic Batman villain. Gunn confirmed that the movie remains on track for its planned September 2026 release, but admitted it’s not ready for a trailer yet. The film is still undergoing editing, so a trailer isn’t expected soon.
Gunn also addressed speculation about the next Superman film, currently titled Man of Tomorrow. He confirmed cinematographer Sam McCurdy is attached and the story will build on characters introduced in the new DC Universe. However, he dismissed rumours suggesting Batman or Wonder Woman would appear in the film, calling them inaccurate.
Regarding Batman himself, Gunn said fans should be patient. Updates on The Brave and the Bold are still a while away as the script isn’t finished yet. For now, DC Studios seems focused on establishing the groundwork before making major announcements.
While Gunn’s comments may not have delivered the big reveals some fans were hoping for, they suggest a studio taking a thoughtful approach to shaping the future of the DC Universe.
