Ahead of it’s European Premiere at Glasgow Film Festival later this month Jean Marc Vallee‘s Demolition unveils  a new trailer, which Jake Gyllenhaal delivers a sledgehammer to his life…
Fox Searchlight have released an American trailer delivering another good look at the film and it’s characters especially Davis. It’s very symbolic of a person whose faced tragedy, there whole world collapses around them, but thanks to one or a few individuals help to get rid of the negativity and rebuild your life once again. Whilst the film left Toronto last September to mixed reviews, the films true pull looks to based around the strength of Gyllenhaal’s performance. Proving once again why he is one of the best actors of our generation, he’s came a long way since Donnie Darko. Director  Jean Marc Vallee has come a long way too since Dallas Buyers Club following it with the underrated Wild, will it be 3 in a row? Hopefully!
In Demolition, Davis (Jake Gyllenhaal), a successful investment banker, struggles after losing his wife in a tragic car crash. Despite pressure from his father in law Phil (Chris Cooper) to pull it together, Davis continues to unravel. What starts as a complaint letter to a vending machine company turns into a series of letters revealing startling personal admissions. Davis’ letters catch the attention of customer service rep Karen (Naomi Watts) and, amidst emotional and financial burdens of her own, the two form an unlikely connection. With the help of Karen and her son Chris (Judah Lewis), Davis starts to rebuild, beginning with the demolition of the life he once knew.
Demolition will release in UK cinemas 29th April 2016 after it makes it’s Premiere at Glasgow Film Festival on 22nd February. Film will make it’s U.S premiere at SXSW 11 March ahead of its 8th April cinematic release.
