Jack Barton Rumoured Favourite For James Bond
The hunt for the next James Bond continues, and reports say they are narrowing down the mystery list. Amy Pascal, the producer, outlined a course for this casting, with hopes of having secured the next 007 by the end of this year.
This tracks with filming to begin early 2027, and brings us one step closer to the new James Bond. Though all held up by speculation, Page Six says there is an apparent shortlist of six names that will go on to participate in screen tests next month. There is little to confirm this exact timeline or the numbers, but the auditioning process is well underway, with all the obvious A-lister choices and at least one surprise.

The outlet indicates that there is a current frontrunner who holds no ground in experience as a genuine unknown – this being Jack Barton. Amongst the names already in the hat for Bond, his coming up comes as quite a twist and an unexpected candidate. Barton has played recurring smaller roles in multiple TV shows – an older brother in Heartstopper as well as roles in SAS: Rogue Heroes and Talamasca: The Secret Order. This actor is said to be a favourite of director Denis Villeneuve, and potentially shows the desire for a totally new brand of secret agent.
With the meticulous nature of their search, this shows that they want an entirely new energy for James Bond, and time will tell if he demonstrates a capability to take on this legacy role. The other names that are reportedly at the top of the list are Callum Turner (a public favourite), Jack Lowden, Jacob Elordi, and Harris Dickinson.ย
Amazon declined to comment, meaning everyone’s understanding of how this process is progressing remains little more than rumours and speculation. However, it is always exciting to be thrown new curveballs, and this one is the possibility of Jack Barton being catapulted into the spotlight as Bond, James Bond.
