Netflix Drops Trailer For Lee Chang-dong’s Venice-Selected Possible Love

Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Lee Chang-dong’s Possible Love, which will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
The film “follows a story of two married couples — a laid-off worker and his spouse and a documentary filmmaker and her spouse — crossing paths to film a documentary and facing their different lives and hidden desires.”
Despite many speculating on the idea, this film is not, in any way, a remake of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Dekalog: Nine.
Lee Chang-dong, who directed the film, also co-wrote it with past collaborator Oh Jung-mi. Possible Love marks his first film since 2018’s Burning; some of his other notable works include Poetry, Secret Sunshine, and Oasis.

It stars Jeon Do-yeon (Secret Sunshine, Good News), Sul Kyung-gu (Oasis, Peppermint Candy), Zo In-sung (Hope), and Cho Yeo-jeong (Parasite).
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee said: “Netflix really had trust in the virtue of the screenplay as well as in myself as a filmmaker, and throughout the entire process of production and all of the steps of creating this film, I was given a near-perfect amount of creative freedom.
“This was my first time working with Netflix, but I will say that across my filmmaking career, this was the film that I felt most comfortable and most at ease with — which came as a surprise to me.”
Beyond premiering in Competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, the film will also play at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival in the Special Presentations category, and in the Main Slate of the 64th New York Film Festival.
The film has also been named South Korea’s official selection for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards in 2027.
Possible Love hits select cinemas on 23rd October and Netflix on 6th November.
