Your whole perspective in life changes when you turn 50. It happened to me last year, in HBO Max‘s upcoming comedy series Youth, Sharon Horgan is looking for love and more, watch first trailer!
Mid life the end of fun, desperate times especially if you have many things still to do on your wish list. The aches and the pains come with it, those things you took for granted come harder to get, there’s also loneliness.
Youth follows Alex (Horgon) is a 50 year old woman, divorced and looking after her ageing parents. She’s also putting up with nonsense from her so called grown up son, all she wants is love and sex. Her ex husband is dating a younger woman and Alex feels her life unravelling. Her friend attempts to set her up on dates with older men, Alex does have eyes for that younger man
I was told by some life gets easier as you get older, so far still to see that evidence. I won’t be driving that mid life crisis expensive sports car (I can’t drive), dating younger women. For a woman, hoping the kids have left home (or old enough to look after themselves), or at least loving single life to it’s max. Youth is giving a taster if what that 50 year old divorcee life is like, it’s like a ticking clock!
The Synopsis is short and sweet and doesn’t exactly reveal much – YOUTH follows a 50-year-old divorcee’s search for sex and love whilst juggling caring for her ailing parents and parenting her should-be grown up son.
The series also stars Rupert Friend (Patrick), Sharlene Whyte (Sam), Aran Murphy (Ruari), and Robbie Gee (Frank). Horgan also writes and executive produces for the show.
Youth is an eight part series which will premiere on HBO Max with 2 episodes on 21st September.
