Pierce Brosnan

Pierce Brosnan took on the role of James Bond between 1995 and 2002, featuring in four instalments of the franchise. His first, GoldenEye, is regarded as the most highly rated, grossing around $355 million worldwide.

Brosnan, amongst a world of fans, is intrigued by the mystery around the next 007 – telling Vanity Fair in a recent interview that he is “eagerly” awaiting the announcement. He shared his support and interest in seeing Callum Turner take on the role.

He was asked if he was entertaining the discourse around the next instalment, and said, โ€œOh, Iโ€™m just an audience member now. Iโ€™m just the man in the street who is eager to see who is going to play this epic role of cinematic history.”

Though he demonstrated a partiality towards Turner, he noted how they all had strengths to pour into the role and a potential to take the film in a new direction.

“All the men who are on the list now are actors I admire. Callum Turner is someone Iโ€™ve worked with, and heโ€™s so strong.” He notes, continuing, “They all have a voice and a physique, and a presence on film. They all have longevity as actors, all of these young men.โ€

Previous lists also include Jack Lowden, star of Slow Horses, Jacob Elordi, and Josh O’Connor as frontrunners, as well as rumoured test offers for underdogs such as Jack Barton.

Pierce Brosnan’s fondness for Callum Turner is shared by much of the public and press, and the finalisation of a top three brings us closer to final auditions, which are believed to be taking place in London. He offers advice to the next secret agent, saying, โ€œWhoever plays the role, I wish him the very best of life and strength and courage. You know, itโ€™s hard to tell who it would be, but I eagerly await to hear the news and the celebration of the next James Bond.โ€

He also shared his excitement for directorย Denis Villeneuveย to take on the franchise and bring it into a new era, with new dynamics and stellar choices. โ€œI think we are going to be blown away. I really do,โ€ he said. โ€œ[Villeneuve] is such an iconoclastic director. His work is visionary, and his stealth and imagination of camera work and storytelling are so visceral and sensuous. Itโ€™s going to be great. Itโ€™s going to be truly magnificent.
