We had the pleasure of chatting to the cast of this touching coming-of-age comedy

Summers Last Resort cast interview

Summer is in full swing in the new coming-of-age original, Summer’s Last Resort, and to celebrate the film’s release, we had the pleasure of speaking to the cast!

The exclusive Tubi original stars Sophia Bush, Jerry O’Connell, and Violet McGraw. While hilarious at times, the film touches on themes of mother-daughter relationships and the realities of a single-parent household. We spoke about balancing the comedic elements with the film’s more tender moments, and also got behind-the-scenes insight into how the difficulties of filming water slide scenes helped bring the cast closer together. Bush also reveals the origin of one of her character’s costume pieces and how it became a celebration of director Melanie Scrofano’s work on the film.ย

A high-strung teenโ€™s vacation takes a turn when sheโ€™s trapped with her free-spirited momโ€™s try-hard boyfriend, who also happens to be her vice principal. Determined to end the romance, she hatches a secret breakup plan that spirals into a week of sunburns, sabotage and unexpected feelings.ย Summerโ€™s Last Resortย is written by Emily Andras (Wynonna Earp, Lost Girl) and directed by Melanie Scrofano (Heartland, Wynonna Earp).

Synopsis:

Milly (Bush) is a cool mom with a bad track record of ex-boyfriends. Her daughter, Summer (McGraw), isn’t impressed by her mom’s newest choice, Glenn (O’Connell), a goofball who also happens to be her vice principal. In an attempt to break up the happy couple while on a luxurious family holiday, the week in paradise unfolds into chaos.ย
