We love him as Luther, many of us love to see him as the next James Bond, Idris Elba will be a DJ in his next project. If you throw in his directorial feature debut (Yardie) Elba is turning out to be a go-to man for virtually everything. Ahead of it’s March release Netflix has released a selection of first look images for Turn Up Charlie.
Elba plays Charlie a DJ who gets one last chance at the big time after struggling for years. He’s also described as an ‘eternal bachelor’ and ‘Manny’ to best friends daughter. He’s a ladies man and I’m sure many ladies won’t be complaining either!
Turn Up Charlie centres on the titular Charlie (Idris Elba), a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor, who is given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a ‘manny’ to his famous best friend’s problem-child daughter, Gabby (Frankie Hervey). Piper Perabo and JJ Feild co-star. Elba and Gary Reich co-created Turn Up Charlie and will serve as executive producers along with Tristram Shapeero. Shapeero will also direct the series with Matt Lipsey. Martin Joyce and Ana Garanito are co-executive producers. The series is co-produced by Reich’s Brown Eyed Boy Productions and Elba’s Green Door Pictures.
The series also stars Angela Griffin, Guz Khan, Jocelyn Jee Esein, Jade Anouka, Cameron King and Dustin Demri-Burns round out the cast as recurring guest stars.
