Harry Lloyd, best known as Viserys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, has been tapped to portray legendary Beatles producer George Martin in Sam Mendes’ ambitious four-film Beatles saga. Officially titled The Beatles: A Four‑Film Cinematic Event, the project will focus on each band member individually: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.

Scripts are written by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan, and Jack Thorne, with Mendes aiming to explore both the music and personal lives of the iconic quartet. Giles Martin, George’s son,  praised Lloyd as “very committed,” highlighting Martin’s pivotal role in shaping the Beatles’ sound and guiding their legendary recordings.

The Fab Four have already been cast: Paul Mescal as McCartney, Harris Dickinson as Lennon, Joseph Quinn as Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Starr. Mendes’ vision is said to balance the band’s global impact with intimate behind-the-scenes stories, including Martin’s orchestral arrangements and mentorship, earning him the title of “fifth Beatle.”

Sony Pictures will distribute the films, with releases expected to begin in April 2028. With Lloyd joining the ensemble, Mendes’ epic tribute is shaping up to be both a love letter to the Beatles’ music and a spotlight on the genius of the man who helped craft it.

Fans can expect a cinematic celebration of one of history’s most influential bands, blending drama, music, and a behind-the-scenes perspective that has never been explored in such depth.
