Sources report that Universal Pictures is backing the project, with the Radio Silence duo, Matt Bettinelli‑Olpin and Tyler Gillett, attached to direct. Fraser acknowledged that the third film, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), diverged from his vision due to production constraints, but he says this sequel will finally capture the spirit he intended.
