Brendan Fraser Promises The Mummy 4 Will Finally Be “What Fans Want” — Hints at Rachel Weisz Reunion

A man and woman embrace in fear in a dark place in The Mummy

Brendan Fraser has confirmed that a fourth Mummy movie is in development and he says it will finally deliver the version fans have been waiting for. In a recent interview, Fraser said, “The one I wanted to make was never made … I’ve been waiting 20 years for this call. Now? It’s time to give the fans what they want.”

The new instalment will be a continuation, not a reboot, of the original franchise. Sources report that Universal Pictures is backing the project, with the Radio Silence duo, Matt Bettinelli‑Olpin and Tyler Gillett, attached to direct. Fraser acknowledged that the third film, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), diverged from his vision due to production constraints, but he says this sequel will finally capture the spirit he intended.

One of the most exciting prospects is the possible return of Rachel Weisz, who starred as Evelyn Carnahan in the first two films. Discussions are reportedly underway, and fans are hopeful for a reunion. Fraser’s dedication to creating a faithful continuation appears deeply personal, aiming to retain the humour, adventure, and heart that made the originals beloved.

Fraser, now 56, has experienced a career resurgence after his acclaimed role in The Whale, giving him both the visibility and drive to revisit one of his most iconic characters. While plot details, full cast, and release date remain under wraps, Fraser’s comments signal a commitment to crafting a film that honours the legacy of the franchise rather than leaning purely on nostalgia.

With Fraser returning to the role that helped define his career and Weisz potentially joining him, The Mummy 4 promises to be a true celebration for fans, blending adventure, romance, and classic monster-movie thrills.

Universal Pictures is yet to announce a release date for The Mummy 4.
