Whitney Peak Joins Cast Of Miami Vice ’85 At Universal

Actress Whitney Peak has joined the already star-studded cast of Miami Vice ‘85 over at Universal.

With production set to get underway later this year, this take on the iconic TV show is inspired by the pilot episode, set during the corruption and glamour of mid-’80s Miami.

Already cast in the film are leads Michael B. Jordan (Sinners, Black Panther) and Austin Butler (Elvis, Dune: Part 2), with Alden Ehrenreich (Weapons, Oppenheimer) only recently joining the ranks.

The film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, best known for motorsport drama F1, as well as legacy sequels Top Gun: Maverick and 2010’s TRON: Legacy. He has also made popular hits like the Tom Cruise-starring Oblivion, Spiderhead, and the wildfire drama Only the Brave, which released in 2017.

The film is being penned by American screenwriter Dan Gilroy, whose other writing credits include two Jake Gyllenhaal-starring films, Nightcrawler and Velvet Buzzsaw, as well as the Vietnam War-set Kong: Skull Island and Tarsem Singh’s The Fall. 

The film is produced by Dylan Clark and Kosinski, with Gilroy’s script based on characters created by Anthony Yerkovich from the series he executive produced with the legendary Michael Mann. Mann directed the 2006 feature film adaptation, Miami Vice, which starred Colin Farrell and Jamie Fox. 

Whitney Peak is next on the big screen as Lenore Dove in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which opens in cinemas in November. 

Miami Vice ‘85 will be filmed for IMAX and is set for release on May 19, 2028.
