The past few years have been tough for Will Smith and recent news that he will return next year for the long-awaited Bad Boys 2nd sequel has risen the pulses. Before then things might just get ‘brighter’ when David Ayer’s Netflix bound Bright arrives on the Streaming giants channel later this year.
Some folks think the police are ‘monsters’ and in this fantasy cop action thriller, they literally are at least Joel Edgerton is, he’s an orc.Today we get a first look at the teaser trailer as well as new images in what looks a bizarre movie. Alien Nation with Orcs and Elves? Check out the trailer…
“Training Day meets Lord Of The Rings” is how David Ayer describes Bright, a movie set in modern day Los Angeles where humans, Orcs and Elves have lived side by side for nearly a millennia. Are the ready to serve and will they be accepted? It’s Netflix’s most expensive project to date, certainly their most adventurous too but can the movie deliver?
Set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves and fairies have been coexisting since the beginning of time, this action-thriller directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad, End of Watch, writer of Training Day) follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward, a human (Will Smith), and Jakoby, an orc (Joel Edgerton), embark on a routine night patrol that will alter the future of their world as they know it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a young female elf and a thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which in the wrong hands could destroy everything.
The fellowship no longer wants to destroy the one ring that rules them all, there all ‘bad boys’ now it’s LAPD. Looks very mundane and a movie that sparks our curiosity to see how things will develop. It’s a movie that tackles racism and Edgerton’s character may suffer abuse and magic are illegal so conflicts will spark off.
Netflix has kicked off early on this one, plenty going for it, some silly others possibly walking a tightrope. Bright is set for a global release December 2017. Co-starring Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez, Ike Barinholtz, Enrique Murciano, Jay Hernandez, Andrea Navedo, Veronica Ngo, Alex Meraz, Margaret Cho, Brad William Henke, Dawn Olivieri, and Kenneth Choi.
