First Trailer For Disney’s The Nutcracker And The Four Realms Reveals It’s Dark Side

It’s been a busy time for the worker lemmings at Disney. From killing off the opposition (Fox takeover) to unveiling one of the most disappointing Star Wars movies. Today they give us a taste of something they have been really good at lately…Adapting live-action version of the Classic The Nutcracker ballet, The Nutcracker And The Four Realms.

Ahead of its release Next October, we get the first UK Trailer that teases what lies inside the box. The story takes a more fantasy feel and reveals they not scared to show a ‘dark side’…

This movie is directed by Lasse Hällstrom who was responsible for one of the worst movies of 2017, The Dogs Purpose. We do know the Swedish filmmaker at one time directed some fantastic gems like Chocolat, My Life As A Dog, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. He now has the gold at the end of the rainbow, to date this will probably be his biggest challenge to date. What we see here looks very enchanting, not scared to showcase its ballet influence as well as its classic fairytale origins.

All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift from her late mother. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world. Starring Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy and featuring a special performance by Misty Copeland, Disney’s new holiday feature film “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is directed by Lasse Hallström and inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s classic tale.

The Nutcracker And The Four Realms will be released in the UK & Ireland 26th October 2018.
