First Look At Kate Beckinsale In Action Thriller Canary Black

Principal photography has begun in Croatia on action thriller Canary Black. Production have shared a first look images of it’s lead star, Kate Beckinsale in action.

Along side Beckinsale the cast will include includes Rupert Friend ( Anatomy of a Scandal). Here’s the official synopsis…

From the producers of Greenland and the director of Taken. A top CIA operative, Avery Graves (Beckinsale), is blackmailed by terrorists into betraying her own country to save her kidnapped husband. Cut off from her team, she turns to her underworld contacts to survive and help locate the coveted intelligence that the kidnappers want. Betrayed at every turn, she must rely on her cutting-edge training and primitive fighting skills in a deadly race to deliver a ransom that could trigger a global crisis.

Beckinsale is no stranger to the action genre making her name with the Underworld films. Along with more recently Jolt (2021) and we’ll see her in Catherine Hardwicke’s Prisoners Daughter with Brian Cox. Friend also has appeared in action genre with 2015 Hitman Agent 47.

Pierre Morel (Taken, Peppermint) directs from a screenplay by Matthew Kennedy. The Cinematographer is Thierry Arbogast (The Fifth Element, Lucy) and the Production Designer is Sebastian Krawinkel (Around The World In 80 Days, A Most Wanted Man).

Canary Black is produced by Sébastien Raybaud and John Zois for Anton, Carsten Lorenz (Moonfall, Greenland), Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin for Sentient Entertainment, Jeff Elliott for Brickell & Broadbridge International, Marina Grasic for Oakhurst Entertainment. Igor A. Nola of MP Filmska Produkcija is the Croatian Service Producer. Pierre Morel and Kate Beckinsale will also serve as executive producers. Anton, Brickell & Broadbridge International and Oakhurst Entertainment are financing the film.

Canary Black doesn’t have a official release date just yet, expect the film sometime in 2023.
