Over the decade’s many movies have arrived with a massive buzz but failed to register a win at The Oscars/Awards season. Denzil Washington‘s Fences is one of those movies that’s slowly been building a awards buzz, however, there was some doubt it would deliver. Recently in the United States, there was a press screening with the feedback quashing any doubts about the movie and what we have is a fantastic emotionally charged drama.
Today Paramount Pictures has released a brand new second UK Trailer. This new promo is focused on the general story of the movie compared the first trailer which was all about the tensions between father and son. Check out the trailer…
Adapted from August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play,Troy Maxson (Washington), is a strong man, a hard man. He has had to be to survive. Troy Maxson has gone through life in an America where to be proud and black is to face pressures that could crush a man, body and soul. But the 1950s are yielding to the new spirit of liberation in the 1960s, a spirit that is changing the world Troy Maxson has learned to deal with the only way he can, a spirit that is making him a stranger, angry and afraid, in a world he never knew and to a wife and son he understands less and less.
When you’ve appeared in the stage version (Washington and Viola Davis) winning the top stage awards is always a positive sign. Those early reviews have collectively stated powerhouse performances which should place the movie well in the best actor/actress awards. Whatever the outcome, it will be a success for Washington as Fences looks on ball to be his best directorial effort to date.
Fences still don’t have a UK&Irish confirmed release date however that maybe possibly 10th February 2017 (USA 25th December). The movie also stars Jovan Adepo, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Russell Hornsby, Mykelti Williamson, and Saniyya Sydney.
