Disney+ Review: Fresh (2022)

Dating in a world where singles can get to know each other using technology, beginning and ending a relationship without ever meeting is not always ideal for the unlucky in love, like Noa (Daisy Edgar-Jones) whom basically concedes defeat following her most recent disastrous dinner liaison.
Then; during a stroll around the grocery store fresh fruit section, it all changes, in walks Steve (Sebastian Stan) with his tall stature, floppy hair and big smile, sweeping Noa off her feet. The pair hit it off immediately beginning a spontaneous whirlwind romance.
The anxieties involved in searching for the perfect partner by Noa are put on hold thinking she has found the one, until their first weekend getaway when events turnaround quicker than a swipe to the left.
It is rare for me not to know anything at all about a movie and when seeing Fresh, that was the case thus enhancing my viewing experiences from laughs to shocks to outright disbelief.
I will not spoil anything here except to say expect the unexpected whilst vegans should absolutely avoid watching or keep repeating to themselves, it’s only a movie, it’s only a movie!
Stan is at his eccentric best as mystery man Steve, Edgar-Jones slinks into her multifaceted role of torn apart Noa equally as marvellous. These two are a wonderous couple soon to be frenemies. Shoutout to a seemingly elementary Charlotte Le Bon as Ann, an everyday housewife with secret ties to proceedings.
JoJo T. Gibbs and David Okeniyi (brilliant in Emperor, 2021) round out major players in the mix for mayhem.
In some aspects comparable to 1982 retro indie hit Eating Raoul, however, to say much more will be unjustified. Avoid spoilers for this highly encouraging rom-com with a sharp, bloody edge.
