Dark Forces Upon Us In Warcraft: The Beginning New Trailer

Cinephiles and gamers alike wait with baited breath at the prospect of the first critically acclaimed video game flick, could it be Warcraft: The Beginning? In the brand new official international trailer for worlds will collide as the dark forces are upon us!

When it comes to a game like Warcraft and describing the impact, even how much of an phenomenon worldwide the game still is, it’s near impossible unless you’ve played yourself. Somehow there seems to be an lack of enthusiasm for the film could things be set to change or are we too cautious to be excited thanks to the sub-genre’s previous history?

In Warcraft: The Beginning, the peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

When your film is based on something that’s globally popular it’s always good to have someone onboard who is a fan and understands what fans want. Director Duncan Jones is a fan and has played the game, so expectations should be high amongst fans of the game but will non fans give the film a chance?

On the evidence of this trailer things look a lot more polished, exciting, tonally alot more consistent. It has new footage which focuses Anduin and Durotan’s tireless efforts to prevent a war. There is also a spotlight on Garona’s brokering to win a peace deal and her importance to the film’s overall plot. Apart from the gaming side of the film could one of the film’s stumbling blocks be the lack of big named stars? Hopefully  not and we focus on the actual film.

Warcraft: The Beginning will arrive in UK&Ireland from 30th May 2016 (USA 10th June), starring Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton,Ruth Negga, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Rob Kazinsky and Daniel Wu.
