Crash Bandicoot Animated Series In The Works At Netflix
It has been reported (via Dark Horizons) that Netflix are currently developing an animated series around the iconic PlayStation video game character, Crash Bandicoot.
Netflix are no stranger to adapting video games into animated shows, as examples such as Arcane, Castlevania, The Cuphead Show,ย and more recently Splinter Cell: Deathwatch have all proven to be a hit with fans old and new. Crash could be yet another success for them and their long line of animated video game adaptations. The series is being worked on by WildBrain Studios, who previously made Sonic Prime and Carmen Sandiego for the streaming platform. Details of a story or voice cast for the Crash Bandicoot series have not been revealed.
Crash has previously appeared in animated form in the Netflix series Skylanders Academy, as a cameo where he was voiced by New Zealand actor Rhys Darby. However, the announcement of this new show marks the first time the character will front his own series, after past attempts to adapt the franchise fell through, most notably with a collaboration between Activision and Amazon Studios a few years ago.
Crash Bandicoot was first released on the original PlayStation back in 1996, where it was created by developer Naughty Dog, who are now best known for franchises such as Uncharted and The Last of Us. After several changes in developers, the game series was brought back from the dead in 2017 with the remastered N. Sane Trilogy and the subsequent Crash Bandicoot 4: Itโs About Time.
