Brandon Breyer (Jackson A. Dunn) stars in Screen Gems' BRIGHTBURN.

Brightburn Second Trailer This Boy Ain’t No Superman!

This week sees the release of Captain Marvel, the first reviews are positive (read our review). The superhero genre to be frank is getting a little tired, it needs a big lift, could Brightburn be the answer?

After with the fiasco with The Guardians Of The Galaxy, James Gunn produced horror is getting a lot of us overly excited. Now that radio silence is over we have a horror flick that plays on the Superman mythology, one with a big twist. What the man of steel turned to dark side?

This might not exactly be a superhero/comic book film, but the set up could easily be one. If you adore the creepy kid horrors (The Hole In The Ground, The Shining, The Babadook) you might just be in for a treat.

Elizabeth Banks stars as one of the kind human parents who take extraterrestrial infant (Jackson A. Dunn) boy in as their own when he crash lands. Omen for the 21st Century?

Sony Pictures Releasing has sent us the second UK Trailer, check it out…

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?

With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Slither’ presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.

Produced by James Gunn and Kenneth Huang, Brightburn is written by Mark Gunn & Brian Gunn, and directed by David Yarovesky. Starring Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn, Matt Jones and Meredith Hagner, Brightburn will open at cinemas across the UK and Ireland on May 24, 2019.
