This summer, the famous comic and radio show The Lone Ranger is being brought to life with the help of Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney. To celebrate this, we want to introduce you to the man who will be behind the mask. Soon to be a household name, Armie Hammer is a face that might make you say ‘where have I seen him before?’ To help you out, we compiled a list of his most notable roles to date. You might have seen him in…
Gossip Girl as Gabriel Edwards
One of Hammer’s first roles was a 4 episode stint as Gabriel Edwards on Gossip Girl. He was charming yet conniving as he tricked the richest Upper East Siders into investing in his fake business. He was also a brief love interest of Serena’s, but was quickly off the show after splitting with everyone’s money.
The Social Network as the Winklevoss Twins
No, you’re not seeing double. Hammer played both Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss in the 2010 Oscar nominated The Social Network. Technically, only his body was used to play Cameron, while his face was CGI’d onto another actor’s body for Tyler. Regardless, he gave a brilliant performance as the scorned brothers who claim Mark Zuckerberg stole their idea for Facebook.
J. Edgar as Clyde Tolson
As Leonardo DiCaprio’s right hand man in J. Edgar, Hammer portrayed Clyde Tolson, former Associate Director of the FBI. One of his most challenging roles to date, Hammer had to act the fine line between friend and lover to Dicaprio’s J. Edgar.
Mirror Mirror as Prince Alcott
Better known to most as Prince Charming, Hammer played Prince Alcott in the Snow White movie Mirror Mirror. In this role, we got to see Hammer’s humorous side as his character was drunk on a puppy love potion for a good part of the film.
The Lone Ranger as the Lone Ranger
As the masked vigilante himself, Hammer takes on the role of the Lone Ranger. What is sure to make this up and comer a household name, The Lone Ranger is packed with action, drama, and humour in this summer’s biggest blockbuster.
The Lone Ranger is in UK cinemas 9 August
