Since Nolan’s Batman films, only Wonder Woman has matched the critical success for DC. It was only a matter of time before Patty Jenkins film got an well earned sequel, and Wonder Woman 1984 will arrive in 2020.
Tonight Warner Bros Pictures has released the film’s First (UK) Trailer. Gal Gadot returns as Diana Prince, as does Chris Pine as Diana’s love interest, Steve Trevor. The last time we met our Amazonian Warrior Princess it was when World War Two was happening. four decades on we re-meet our heroes in a new decade, with new villains and new dangers.
There will be a lot of questions on why we find ourselves in a new decade. But how Steve is still alive and not an old man as should be in the 1980’s.
This was the decade things got bigger and Neon-lit. Big hair, big shoulder pads, power hungry and a small matter of the ‘Cold War’…
This trailer is packed full of action, the set pieces are big too. With the likes of Stranger Things, Glow, it’s became hip to star in a film/ TV Show set in the 1980’s. Kristen Wiig will be playing Barbara Minerva better known as Cheetah.
What we learn is Barbara is Diana’s best friend, but what happens to turn her into the film’s villain, we have no idea. Pedro Pascal‘s Maxwell Lord looks to be positioned as the film’s main villain.
We don’t know much about the film’s plot. There’s no official plot been announced, but here’s what we’ve learned…
“Diana Prince comes into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1980s, and finds a formidable foe by the name of the Cheetah.”
Wonder Woman 1984 (aka Wonder Woman ’84) will be in UK, Irish and USA Cinemas, 5th June 2020. Co-starring Robin Wright, and Connie Neilson.
