‘What Do You See?’ In UK Trailer for Noir Thriller Gazer

A young woman is paranoid in Gazer

What do you see? same as Ariella Mastroianni? Bulldog Film Distribution have released the  tense UK Trailer for noir thriller Gazer.

Gazer is directed Ryan J.Sloan  and this dark mystery thriller is  hinting at shades of Memento, Hitchcock even David Lynch. Mastroianni is a young mother with a condition that makes her black out and distort time.

Our writer Robert Ewing did watch the film at the Glasgow Film Festival earlier this year. Unfortunately Robert wasn’t a fan of film, describing the film as “Simply Dull“. It’s a shame, his reaction  did sum up the problematic festival for us, roll on 2026 festival!

That was only one person’s opinion, if you enjoy a slow burning paranoia you might just enjoy this.

Frankie is a young single mother with dyschronometria, a rare condition that means she struggles to perceive time. Using cassette tapes for guidance, she takes a risky job from a mysterious woman to support her family, unaware of the dark consequences that await.

Gazer is a tense mystery thriller, shot gorgeously on 16mm and recalling the paranoid themes, stylish visuals, affecting score and leftfield horror notes of canonical works from the likes of Pakula, Hitchcock, De Palma, Cronenberg, Lynch, Schrader and Polanski.

The debut feature of director Ryan J. Sloan and starring Ariella Mastroianni, who wrote the film together, Gazer had its world premiere at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, followed by screenings at Glasgow and Dublin Film Festivals.
