CRUEL SUMMER

It was announced this week that cutting edge UK indie horror Cruel Summer will be released by the appropriately named Sharp Teeth Films. This is an extremely brave move from a relatively tenderfoot distributor.

The movie, starring Danny Miller of Emmerdale fame, depicts the events surrounding a brutal attack on a young Autism sufferer and is one of the most gruelling, yet rewarding, indie horror experiences in ages.

WE ARE THE FLESH

Another of the most controversial horror movies of the year, both in terms of explicit content and narrative conventions, revealed release details this week. Mexican mischief machine We Are The Flesh will be coming to selected cinemas on 18th November 2016.

The film is about a young brother and sister roaming an apocalyptic city, who take refuge in the dilapidated lair of a strange hermit who takes them on a sexually-charged, nightmarish journey into an other-worldly dimension.

An American Werewolf in London

Tuesday saw vast swathes of the horror community up in arms with the kind of sacrilegious remake vitriol not seen since The Thing.

It all kicked off when Deadline announced there would be a second stab at the oscar winning black comedy masterpiece An American Werewolf in London.

Blown in on the chilly winds of nepotism, that sent shivers of foreboding down the spine of any genre purist, was the news it’s to be helmed by Max Landis, son of original director John.

His famous father proved you are never too old to be cleaning up after your offspring by agreeing to executive produce.

Even though a chink of light at the end of the tunnel was provided by the involvement of The Walking Dead‘s David Albert and Robert Kirkman the internet was not happy :

Horror Trailer Of The Week

Director Dave Parker’s “unpredictable terror tale” It Watches premieres on Digital this December from Uncork’d Entertainment.

Ivan Djurovic (Zoombies), Rick Irwin (30 Minutes or Less), Sanny van Heteren (Hellraiser : Revelations) and James Duval (Donnie Darko) star in a film that will “keep you guessing the entire time” and “delights in delivering the shivers.”

Andre, recovering from a recent accident, agrees to help his friend Robert by taking over a house-sitting job at a creepy home nestled in the hills above Los Angeles. As night comes, the house reveals its insidious nature as Andre begins hearing ominous sounds and experiencing strange occurrences throughout the house that lead him to believe he is not alone, and that someone or something is in the house with him.
