Watch UK Trailer For Mysterious Sensory Thriller ‘Memoria’

After a fairly successful festival circuit run acclaimed Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s English language debut Memoria is coming to UK in January. Today we can be transfixed, as Sovereign Film Distribution release the films UK Trailer.

Tilda Swinton stars in this one, as a Scottish woman who travels to Colombia to visit her sister. She becomes disorientated, restless thanks to a strange mysterious sound. She decides to confront those sights and sounds that challenge her identity.

The film feels mystifying, at times spiritual most of all gorgeous. Certainly challenges your curiosities, personal isolation and yes it won’t be a film for everyone, but who said every film we go to see at the cinema should be for everyone?

Visiting her sister in Bogota, Jessica (Tilda Swinton) is awoken by a loud bang, audible only to her. Restless and disoriented, she roams the city in search of an explanation for the mysterious sound, becoming immersed in the aural richness around her – whispers in a hospital room, sound effects playing in an editing studio, indiscreet noises from a city square. Despite being present throughout, Jessica’s motives remain opaque and her encounters enigmatic. Soon she begins to confront the unsettling sights and sounds that call her identity into question.

The film’s cast includes Elkin Díaz, Jeanne Balibar, Juan Pablo Urrego, Daniel Giménez Cacho, and Agnes Brekke. Memoria will be released in the UK and Ireland from 14th January 2022.
