The Vourdalak strange man taunts woman in headscarf

Blue Finch Films have released the UK Trailer for French gothic vampire horror The Vourdalak.

The film is harking back to the classic period vampiric horrors . To be precise Aleksey Konstantinovich Tolstoyโ€™s 1884 vampiric novella of Gothic Romanticism โ€œLa Famille du Vourdalakโ€. This predates Bram Stoker‘s Dracula, it may have had some inspiration on the iconic vampire we do know Vlad The Impaler was the biggest.

The Vourdalak stars Kacey Mottet Klein as Marquis d’Urfรฉ with Gabriel Pavie as Vlad. We are in 18th century France when the kings emissary Marquis dโ€™Urfรฉ, (Klien) is attacked. He does find refuge in the home of the anomalous Vourdalak family.

This looks very creepy, visually stylish but expect nothing less from arthouse horror…

Lost in a hostile forest, the Marquis dโ€™Urfรฉ, a noble emissary of the King of France, finds refuge in the home of a strange familyโ€ฆ

An adaptation of Aleksey Konstantinovich Tolstoyโ€™s 1884 vampiric novella of Gothic Romanticism โ€œLa Famille du Vourdalakโ€, published 40 years before Dracula, The Vourdalak is a haunting gothic tale directed by Adrien Beau and starring Ariane Labed (Alps, The Lobster, Assassin’s Creed), Kacey Mottet-Klein (Farewell to the Night, Happening), and Grรฉgoire Colin (Beau Travail, 35 Shots of Rum). The Vourdalak premiered at Venice Film Festival where it was nominated for Best Film at International Critics Week.
