Kaleidoscope Entertainment have released the UK Trailer for award winning Doctor Who Documentary, Doctor Who Am I.
When long running franchises get to a crossroads they need a new input. In 1996 a TV movie version was released in hope would take the Doctor in a fresh new direction. However as fans will tell you, this movie was loathed by them.ย Members of the 1996 TV Movie Paul McGann (the Doctor), Eric Roberts (The Master). Along with Matthew Jacobs and Daphne Ashbrook are onboard thisย movie telling their side of things. Most of all the screenwriter Matthew Jacobsย tries to move on from the negativity and his own personal demons.
The documentary made its World Premiere at the Sci-Fi London Film Festival. Where the film took home the acclaimed โAudience Awardโ. Doctor Who Am I has continued to garner critical acclaim which became an endearing reminder of what it means to be a fan.
In 1996, a Doctor Who TV movie was envisioned to lead the franchise into an exciting new future with a fresh direction, but it was met only by an outcry from disapproving fans. Now, follow the filmโs infamous screenwriter, Matthew Jacobs, as he is reluctantly dragged back into the American ‘Whoniverse’ where, despite the brutal rejection of his work 25 years earlier, he unexpectedly finds himself a kindred part of this close-knit, yet vast, family of fans.
The documentary features the original cast of the 1996 movie, including Paul McGann (The Three Musketeers, Queen of the Damned), Eric Roberts (Inherent Vice, The Dark Knight, The Expendables) and Daphne Ashbrook (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine).
Doctor Who Am I will be coming to select UK and Irish cinemas on 13th October. Then on DVD and Digital from 7th November.
