Dave Turner in The Old Oak out 29th September

Watch The UK Trailer For Ken Loach’s The Old Oak

All good things must come to an end and if the rumours are true The Old Oak will be Ken Loach‘s final film. Studiocanal have today released the film’s UK Trailer and that final film will be a tension filled finale all on contemporary United Kingdom.

Next to the trailer below, we have a new Poster. It comes with a tag line…It’s not where you’re from, it’s what you bring.

Dave Turner stars as TJ the landlord of a pub in a once thriving mining community. The pub is The Old Oak, which holds a special place with the locals and TJ is hanging onto the place with his dear life. The area in decline, when the arrival of Syrian refugee things get very heated. Thanks to Yara (Ebla Mari), her camera she forms an unlikely friendship with TJ to try understand each other.

Regardless of what you think of Loach‘s political views, he knows how to capture social commentary really well. This film once again shows why he’s one of the best of what we like to call kitchen sink dramas. Lot of heart, passion and optimism…

THE OLD OAK is a special place. Not only is it the last pub standing, but it’s also the only remaining public space where people can meet in a once thriving mining community that has now fallen on hard times after 30 years of decline. TJ Ballantyne (Dave Turner) the landlord hangs on to The Old Oak by his fingertips, and his predicament is endangered even more when the pub becomes contested territory after the arrival of Syrian refugees who are placed in the village without any notice.

In an unlikely friendship TJ meets a curious young Syrian Yara [Ebla Mari] with her camera. Can they find a way for the two communities to understand each other? So unfolds a deeply moving drama about their fragilities and hopes.

The rest of the cast includes Trevor Fox, Debbie Honeywood, Laura Lee Daly, Jordan Louis. The Old Oak will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 29th September.
