Watch The Trailer For Chinese Anime Blades of the Guardians

Blades of the Guardians (2022)

Fans of anime series Beserk might want to check out the Chinese historical anime Blades Of The Guardians. The series is an historical martial arts manhua by Xianzhe Xu and the lovely folks at Collider have unearthed a gorgeous looking Trailer.

The series was originally released in China, Summer 2021, with hope of the series getting a Japanese release sometime this year. As we know when it comes to animation in Asia, the Japanese are considered the best especially worldwide. Slowly the Chinese are catching up with several films that have found themselves released in the UK.

The series is set during the transitional period of the Sui dynasty and the Tang Dynasty. We follow the highly skilled mercenary Dāomǎ, a real sense of honour travelling across the country and making a living by his sword. When he takes a paid mission to the capital, things go wrong and gets more than he bargained for.

The promo teases plenty of action, politics and oppression with a hint of supernatural  thrown in for good measure!

Set in 607 ACE during a tumultuous period at the tail end of the Sui Dynasty (581 – 618 ACE), Hyoujin -BLADES OF THE GUARDIANS follows the exploits of Dāomǎ, a mercenary who carves out a living by the strength of his arm and the sharpness of his sword. When Dāomǎ accepts an escort mission to the capital of Chang’an, he soon finds more than he bargained for as he becomes embroiled in an intrigue involving conspiracies within the empire and the oppression of ethnic minorities.

Blades Of The Guardians doesn’t have a UK release date nor do we know when or who will release it. Expect the English subtitled version out possibly 2023 or late 2022.
