Watch The Tension Filled Cairo Conspiracy UK Trailer

Picturehouse Entertainment has released the UK Trailer for Tarik Saleh’s gripping political thriller Cairo Conspiracy.

The film premiered at 2022 Cannes Film Festival and was recently shortlisted for this weekend’s Oscars foreign language award. The film promises a tension filled game of cat and mouse starring Tawfeek Barhom.

Barholm stars as Adam a son of a fisherman who is offered a place at a university in Cairo regard the power epicentre of Sunni Islam. When the highest ranking religious leader is killed, Adam finds himself in the middle of a struggle between Egypt’s religious and political elites.

Adam (Tawfeek Barhom), the son of a fisherman, is offered the ultimate privilege to study at the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, the epicentre of power of Sunni Islam. Shortly after his arrival in Cairo, the university’s highest ranking religious leader, the Grand Imam, suddenly dies and Adam soon becomes a pawn in a ruthless power struggle between Egypt’s religious and political elites.

A blistering political thriller brimming with tension, CAIRO CONSPIRACY follows wide-eyed Adam as he becomes entangled in deadly game of cat and mouse with wily state security officer Colonel Ibrahim (Fares Fares). Forced to infiltrate certain cliques in the religious seat of learning, Adam finds himself in increasingly dangerous situations, the threat of exposure ever imminent. Stunning production design by Roger Rosenberg (The Worst Person in the World) and evocative cinematography by Pierre Aïm (La Haine) capture the hushed grandeur of the prayer halls, minarets and chambers of the religious institution and the intense chaos of the streets outside.

The Cairo Conspiracy cast also includes Fares Fares, Mohammad Bakri, Makram Khoury, Mehdi Dehbi, Moe Ayoub, Sherwan Haji, and Ahmed Lassaoui. The film is set for a UK and Irish Cinema release from 14th April.
