Watch The First Elysium TV Spot

Neil Blomkamp‘s return to sci-fi is only 2 months away when Elysium arrives in UK, Irish and American cinemas and tonight we have the film’s official first tv spot.
Set in 2154 a dystopian future of 2 classes:the rich live in a man made luxurious comfortable surroundings of a space station whilst the rest of the population struggle to live in the over populated ย cramped ruined Earth. Max (Matt Damon) determined to leave his dead end life falls back and decides to fall back into his criminal life in a chance to grab a new life inย Elysiumย but he must take major risks to gain what he needs finding a bounty hunter tracking him down.
Elysium looks like Blomkamp will deliver the same mix of social commentary and action as seen in District 9 making the 4 year wait worth it. The spot doesn’t provide much in new footage however what we see is a reminder we have a filmmaker who can really bridge the gap between sci-fi fantasy and the gritty realism of life and making something that’s truly special. Whilst D9 was unexpected hit, the pressure will be on the South African filmmaker to produce the goods and what we can see here plus the recent trailers we have nothing to worry about.
Elysium has a new UK&Irish release date of 23rd August (USA 9th August)ย and the film also starsย Jodie Foster,Sharlto Copely, William Fichtner,Diego Luna, Alice Braga, andย Faran Tahir.
