Watch George Clooney Be The ‘Back-Up’ Parent in The Trailer For THE DESCENDANTS
It’s hard enough when your a parent full stop but when your regarded as the ‘back-up’ parent it must be heart breaking for them, In Alexander Payne’s THE DESCENDANTS George Clooney is that ‘Back-Up’ Parent. Fox Searchlight via Apple have released the first trailer for what some people are calling one of the big players for next years Oscars with the movie based on a Kaui Hemmings novel about Matt King (Clooney) a man trying to look after his 2 teen daughters whilst his wife recovers from a boating accident in Hospital. The movie does look charming, funny but also very emotional and seems to do well in the character relationships, ticking all the boxes to earn it a nomination for the Oscars. We’ve seen Gorgeous George a doctor, soldier, hitman, psychic, thief and virtually everything else apart from been a dad!
THE DESCENDANTS doesn’t have a confirmed UK&Irish release date, For USA the movie will be out December 16th. The movie also co-stars Judy Greer, Matthew Lillard, Beau Bridges, and Robert Forster.
From Alexander Payne, the creator of the Oscar-winning SIDEWAYS, set in Hawaii, THE DESCENDANTS is a sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic journey for Matt King (George Clooney) an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki. The event leads to a rapprochement with his young daughters while Matt wrestles with a decision to sell the family’s land handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries.
