Watch Full Trailer For Michael Jackson Biopic Michael
The long-awaited biopic Michael has finally stepped into the spotlight with the release of its first full trailer, offering audiences a sweeping look at the life, artistry, and ambition of one of the most influential entertainers of all time: Michael Jackson.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer franchise), Michael is a cinematic portrayal of Jackson’s life and legacy, tracing his journey from a prodigious child star to a global cultural force who redefined music, performance, and celebrity itself. Rather than focusing solely on the spectacle, the film promises a deeper exploration of Jackson’s life beyond the stage, capturing both his private world and the creative drive that fuelled his relentless pursuit of greatness.
The story begins with the discovery of Jackson’s extraordinary talent as the lead singer of the Jackson Five and follows his evolution into a visionary solo artist whose influence would reshape pop music forever. Alongside intimate moments from his off-stage life, the film recreates some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, giving audiences what is described as a “front-row seat” to Michael Jackson as never before.
Stepping into the role of the King of Pop is Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew, making his feature film debut. Early footage from the trailer highlights his striking resemblance and commanding screen presence, suggesting a performance rooted in authenticity and respect for the artist’s legacy. The cast also includes Nia Long, Laura Harrier, and Juliano Krue Valdi, with Miles Teller and two-time Academy Award® nominee Colman Domingo appearing in key supporting roles.
The film’s creative team brings significant prestige to the project. The screenplay is written by three-time Academy Award® nominee John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator), while production is led by Academy Award® winner Graham King (The Departed, Bohemian Rhapsody), alongside long-time Michael Jackson collaborators John Branca and John McClain. Together, the team aims to deliver a definitive portrait of Jackson that balances spectacle with emotional depth.
With its scale, talent, and focus on both the man and the myth, Michael positions itself as one of the most ambitious music biopics in recent years. The newly released trailer signals that the film is not just a celebration of Jackson’s music, but an exploration of the complexities, pressures, and creative fire that defined his life.
Michael is set to be released in cinemas and IMAX across the UK and Ireland on 24th April.
