Once He’s Seen You He’ll Want To Watch New Creepy Trailer For SINISTER Starring Ethan Hawke

After it’s surprising screening at this years SXSW festival Scott Derrickson’s SINISTER has had it’s official trailer released. Yes the film is found footage but not in the way Paranormal Activity but this a spine chiller that’s had really positive reviews which is a good especially after many years of films with great looking trailers but disappointing films.

Ethan Hawke stars as Ellison a  crime novelist who moves into a new home with his family to discover a box of homemade movies which he finds in the attic of the new house . Stupidly he decides to watch them unveiling some disturbing secrets  as well as the facts that the new home was once owned by a family who all committed a mass suicide! Whilst watching the films he notices that all films have a pagan symbol in them which and after a little bit of investigation Ellison learns the symbol belongs a rather nasty deity named Baghul who is fixated in Ellison’s daughter and once you see him,nothing can save you!

After several mediocre films Derrickson has went for a more low key affair, not over doing it with constant barrage of scary imagery but selectively using the shadowy face, on tv screens, Laptops, photographs which is more effective (and terrifying) a little like the way J-horror does in their ghostly films. You do really feel a sense of tension which has been missing lately in a lot of horror flicks recently which is great as to the untrained eye this might look more of the same as the storyline may find generic but as I’ve said its all down to how you approach the scare as well as not to overload too. With the producer/writers of Saw and Insidious behind this one Sinister does have a safe pair of hands and does pack some supernatural fun which fans will enjoy.

Sinister doesn’t have a UK release date just yet but for American fans they can catch Sinister on October 5th starring Vincent D’Onofrio, Clare Foley and James Ransone.
