Watch A Behind The Scenes Look At Fisherman’s Friends Featurette

In 10 days time, Fisherman’s Friends will be in a cinema near you.The film is an heart-warming true story of a group of Cornish fishermen who were signed by the legendary Island Records (label to artists including Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley and U2) and went on to score a UK top ten album.

Everyone loves a true story and this one has it, a heart warming story of a group of local men, who worked hard during the day at sea. Then at night they gather together for a few drinks and a sing song of seas shanties. They were discovered by a musical executive who came to their village on a stag weekend. Not realising he was pranked by his boss to get them to sign, a step that draws him to local traditions and reevaluate his own life. Off course unearthing these ‘Fishermen Friends’.

A fascinating story and one EFD Films wants us to enjoy when the film comes out. Today they have sent us this spanking new behind the scenes Featurette. In that promo we get a taster of the film and the story that’s now a motion picture!

A fast-living, cynical London music executive (Danny Mays) heads to a remote Cornish village on a stag weekend where he’s pranked by his boss (Noel Clarke) into trying to sign a group of shanty singing fishermen (led by James Purefoy). He becomes the ultimate ‘fish out of water’ as he struggles to gain the respect or enthusiasm of the unlikely boy band and their families (including Tuppence Middleton) who value friendship and community over fame and fortune. As he’s drawn deeper into the traditional way of life he’s forced to re-evaluate his own integrity and ultimately question what success really means.

Bound together by lifelong friendship and shared experience, for more than 25 years the Fisherman’s Friends have met on the harbour in their native Port Isaac, to raise money for charity by singing traditional songs of the sea (Sea Shanties) handed down to them by their forefathers.

Starring Daniel Mays, James Purefoy, Tuppence Middleton, David Hayman, Dave Johns, and Noel Clarke.

Fisherman’s Friends will be released in UK and Irish Cinemas from 15th March 2019.
