Warren Beatty’s Rules Don’t Apply Releases New Featurettes

Rules Don t Apply 'Warren Beatty'

The USA and most of the world might be in a state if shock at last night’s American Elections with President-Elect Donald Trump winning. Like or loathe Trump, Warren Beatty would love you to focus on  Rules Don’t Apply wants to take us back to the Golden Age of Cinema. Young love struggling to blossom under the feet of an eccentric billionaire.

To celebrate January’s UK cinema release 20th Century Fox Pictures have sent us two new Featurettes. First up is “The Comical Consequences”  which looks at our young lovers (Lily Collins and Alden Ehrenreich) and Warren explains the movie isn’t about Howard Hughes (his character) but ‘American Sexual Puritanism’. The second promo is called “On the Story” all about the movies story and a focus on Howard Hughes, One of the most respected men in America.

An aspiring young actress (Lily Collins) and her ambitious young driver (Alden Ehrenreich) struggle hopefully with the absurd eccentricities of the wildly unpredictable billionaire (Warren Beatty) whom they work for.

It’s Hollywood, 1958. Small town beauty queen and devout Baptist virgin Marla Mabrey (Collins), under contract to the infamous Howard Hughes (Beatty), arrives in Los Angeles. At the airport, she meets her driver Frank Forbes (Ehrenreich), who is engaged to be married to his 7th grade sweetheart and is a deeply religious Methodist. Their instant attraction not only puts their religious convictions to the test, but also defies Hughes’ #1 rule: no employee is allowed to have any relationship whatsoever with a contract actress. Hughes’ behaviour intersects with Marla and Frank in very separate and unexpected ways, and as they are drawn deeper into his bizarre world, their values are challenged and their lives are changed.

If you loved The Coen Brothers Hail, Caesar! you’re bound to love Rules Don’t Apply and you can watch the movie in UK&Ireland when it arrives in January 2017.

The movie stars also Alec Baldwin,  Annette Bening, Haley Bennett, Candice Bergen, Matthew Broderick, Dabney Coleman, Steve Coogan,Taissa Farmiga, Ed Harris, Megan Hilty, Oliver Platt and Martin Sheen.
