Director Curry Barker has enjoyed sensational success with his recent horror Obsession, which has grossed a staggering $188.4m domestically against a budget of $750,000.

Barker is set to reunite with Obsessionย backers Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and Universal Film Group for his third film, confirms Deadline. Titled Anything but Ghosts, it will be written by Barker and Cooper Tomlinson, with Barker set to direct. Aaron Paul, Cooper Tomlinson, Bryce Dallas Howard and Violet McGraw are attached to star in the film.

The story centres on fake paranormal investigators who encounter real ghosts. And good news forย Obsessionย fans: Anything but Ghosts is reportedly set in the same universe as the former film, meaning we’re bound to feel rattled, exhilarated and terrified all over again.

Barker’s first feature film, Milk & Serial, was released for free on YouTube after Barker struggled to find a film distributor. With its found-footage aesthetic, the film helped lay the groundwork for Obsession‘s signature blend of visceral horror and dark comedy. Barker had nothing but praise for the production companies, remarking:

โ€œThis film is something Iโ€™ve been excited to make for a while, and Iโ€™m thrilled to be re-teaming with Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Universal Film Group for it. Theyโ€™ve built the kind of home for bold, original storytelling that every filmmaker dreams of, and I couldnโ€™t imagine better collaborators for this film.โ€

Anything But Ghosts is currently inย post-production with Jason Blum, Roy Lee and Steven Schneider as producers, with a release date TBC.
