Listen up Yo, this is sabotage!” indeed it is as one iconic Sci-fi franchise prepares for it’s long cinematic return another Star Trek Beyond launches it’s first trailer! As Summer 2016 starts to hot up with the endless amounts of tentpole blockbusters Gene Roddenberry’s finest boldy go into a new impossible mission and find hope…

It might have over 40 years since the TV Series ended but the crew of the Enterprise can’t seem to fight off the long line of trouble and destruction that follows them. The looks of things the destructive path sees the crew lose  the ship, pushing the frontiers literary, Enterprise destroyed again stranded on an alien planet?! They never learn!!!

As for Star Trek Beyond plot this is still unknown as this trailer is merely a teaser and doesn’t reveal anything but 3rd film of the rebooted franchise will have plenty of action. All thanks to one man, the film’s new director Justin Lin as we all know made his name from Fast & Furious franchise and if we’re to judge him on the action we might be in for an insane exciting fun ride. Paramount knew what type of film they would get with Lin, he gave new life to a dying franchise  and they want an action driven flick, which looks like they will get.

It’s going to be a fun, energetic thrill ride , edge of the seat stuff with the crew finding themselves in impossible situation, riding bikes, hanging off cliff edges. But fans of Star Trek franchise know it’s not all about the action, there’s the level of humour especially one scene with Bones/Spock and Spock beaming out giving fans a chance to compose themselves for what lies ahead. The whole trailer has The Beastie Boys song ‘Sabotage’ playing throughout is an indication of the direction this film is taking, if anything more like the first rebooted film. This time Idris Elba‘s villain (glimpse of him in the trailer) is an mystery, but no indicator he maybe an iconic baddie either.

Question is, does the new direction please the hardcore fans and will it mean the only connection to the original series is the film title and the characters? We’re board shall we beam you up too?

Star Trek Beyond arrives in UK cinemas 22nd July with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana,, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Joe Taslim, Sofia Boutella all onboard.
