Well another week has gone and here we are with the second installment of my weekly roundup of whats happened during the week at Cinehouse my other blog which focuses on the indie/arthouse and foreign movies through trailers, news,views,reviews, movie shorts. Each week I work from Sunday to Sunday basis but we’ll start with Monday 12th we started with a trailer for a powerful Irish thriller called THE LOOKING GLASS. Wednesday 14th was a busy day kicking off with a crazy movie called Lang & gelukkig aka HAPPILY EVER AFTER which is a modern retelling of classic fairytales such as Little red riding hood and Cinderella with ugly sisters called Paris and Hilton, THE SHRINE comes from the mind of Jon Knautz the man behind Jack Brooks Monster Hunter he brings us a 1980’s style chiller horror of friends going to Poland to find their missing friend and find just too much. Inglorious Basterd’s Daniel Bruhl is an engineer in this coming if age robot story EVA and Jaibei Zhang’s Hong Kong horrorMIDNIGHT HEART thats very mysterious that its a silent trailer!!!.
Friday 16th was another busy day after no thursday trailers starting off with James France as Allan Ginsberg in the Biopic for the father of Beat Generation HOWL, Icelandic crime movie CITY STATE has its first teaser before it’s release early 2011 and Javier Bardem stars in the beautifully shot Cannes wininng movie BIUTIFUL from Babel director Alejandro González Iñárritu’. We finish off Friday’s mammoth with a peach of trailer for upcoming Anime REDLINE. Saturday 17th was a late starter 3 movie trailers first a live-action-anime hybrid THRILLER RESTAURANT based on a popular manga/anime where the restaurant is owned by a ghost who tells horror stories. The Wave director Dennis Gansel brings us his vampire flick WE ARE THE NIGHT, these girls just wanna have fun (with fangs) and Frida Pinto is MIRAL in the french trailer about a woman who opens an orphanage in israel and Miral grows up in the orphange learning the hardships becoming a activist.
The we’re onto today Sunday 18th and beleive it or not I’m still doing the posts but here’s what I’ve done so far. Benny Chans mutant action flick CITY UNDER SEIGE has its main trailer released before its August release and Haruki Murakami is one of my favourite authors and she finally has one of her books coming to the big screen with the Beatles inspired NORWEIGIAN WOOD with its first teaser and BLAME is a Aussie thriller soon to have its world premiere in Melbourne Film Festival. GANTZ first trailer has young men jumping around in leather pvcsuits in a all action thriller based on a popular anime. Slasher movies can be a bit hit and miss but Korean movie BEDEVILLED looks one of the better ones to check out and finally some lesbian love in Anne Hui’s romantic comedy ALL ABOUT LOVE.
So since ive started writing this post ive complete sundays busy trailer slots as usual if you want to help out at cinehouse especially if your movie tastes are more for independant, arthouse or great foreign movies get in touch (details at bootom of post), all contributions are welcome. I really need help with news, movie reviews (cinema & dvd), articles from all parts of the world, yeah i maybe based in uk and some of the release info (especially in dvds) may lean towards british/irish releases I appreciate all help. Still taking a long time getting the other blog pages ready just not enough hours in a day!
