The Luckiest Man In America Trailer: Paul Walter Hauser Wins Big In Gameshow Scandal Film

IFC Films has debuted the first trailer for their upcoming true story The Luckiest Man In America, which you can watch below!

Starring Paul Walter Hauser (Richard Jewell, The Fantastic Four: First Steps), the film tells of the shocking story of the US game show Press Your Luck and how one unemployed man had figured out how to win big on it without, seemingly, breaking the rules.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on a true story, THE LUCKIEST MAN IN AMERICA is set in May 1984, when an unemployed ice cream truck driver from Ohio (Paul Walter Hauser) steps onto the game show Press Your Luck harboring a big secret: the key to endless amounts of money. His winning streak is threatened when the bewildered executives in the control room start to uncover his real motivations.

Walton Goggins, Shamier Anderson, David Strathairn, Maisie Williams, Haley Bennett, Patti Harrison, Brian Geraghty, and Johnny Knoxville round out the main cast. Samir Oliveros directs a script by him and Maggie Briggs. The film made its debut at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival.

Hauser will next be seen in two big summer movies – in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, though his role is still a secret; and in the long-mooted reimaging/reboot of The Naked Gun opposite Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson. He plays Cpt Ed Hocken, the role made famous by George Kennedy in the original trilogy.

The Luckiest Man In America hits US cinemas on April 4th with a UK release date TBC.
