The Hate You Give New Featurette Tells Story Of Two Worlds

Amandla Stenberg will always be known for her role as Rue in The Hunger Games, now all grown up she may be about to star in her breakthrough role. Next month she is about to star in The Hate You Give a young adult tale of police violence against people of colour. If you’re a fan of Fruitvale Station another tragic story of Police racism you’ll like this one.

Ahead of next month’s release, Twentieth Century Fox has revealed a new Featurette and Clip. First up is ‘The Story’ featurette which most of the cast chat about the story and message behind the film. Based on the powerhouse book by Angie Thomas, its one story needs to be delivered and understood in the best way.

Starr Carter is constantly switching between two worlds: the poor, mostly black, the neighbourhood where she lives and the rich, mostly white, prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right.

The Hate You Give now has the new UK and Irish cinematic release date of 22nd October, with the UK premiere at BFI London Film Festival on 20th October.
