The Crawley’s Welcome You Back To Downton Abbey, Watch First Trailer

Some places stay with you forever and Downton Abbey is one of those places. Four years after the end of the popular ITV television show the movie version will be with us this year.

Today Universal Pictures has released the First full Trailer for the long awaited film version. The Crawley Estate welcomes you back as Royalty comes to visit The Crawley’s

There is very few British Television shows that can boast a fanbase that’s just as big here in blighty and in the U.S. Downton Abbey is one of those shows (next to Game Of Thrones, Doctor Who, Sherlock to name a few). I was never a fan but never hated the show, but million more did.

We know very little about the film apart from it takes place after the events of the series finale (1927). The King and Queen are visiting as the estate prepares, they may also have an unexpected other visitor…Retire My Carson!

The television series Downton Abbey followed the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20th century in an Edwardian English country home. Over its 6 seasons, the series garnered 3 Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, a Special BAFTA award and 69 Emmy nominations in total, making Downton Abbey the most nominated non-US television show in the history of the Emmys – even earning a Guinness World Record for the highest critically rated TV show along the way.

If you watched the TV version of the show you’ll know the cast was massive. Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Harry Hadden-Paton, David Haig, Geraldine James, Robert James-Collier, Simon Jones, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Tuppence Middleton, Stephen Campbell Moore, Lesley Nicol, Kate Phillips, Maggie Smith, Imelda Staunton, and Penelope Wilton.

Downton Abbey will be in UK and Irish cinemas from 13th September.
