The Coen Brothers pick newcomer for lead in TRUE GRIT

The Coen Brothers have found there femle lead in a new adaptation of the classic Western True Grit which starred John Wayne, Glenn Campbell and Robert Duvall. After an nationwide cast call by Parmount Pictures for an unknown actress according to Variety said new actress Hailee Steinfeld will play the movie lead role Mattie Rose.

Hailee will gain bags of experience in this movie as she’ll be surrounded by many big talented names which include Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges and Josh Brolin. In the 1969 movie actress Kim Darby played the 14 year old lead  and Coen Brothers have stated the originl movie will be used as a benchmark  for the new movie but their version will be more faithfull to Charles Portis  book version.

The movie is based on the story of a 14 year old girl with the help of an ageing  U.S Marshall & another lawman who hunt down the girls killer , to only find him in a Indian territory.

Movie is due to start shooting next month in New Mexico USA with an targeted U.S realease date of December 25th 2010.
