Has everyone forgotten about us, fellow Chroniclers? Don’t worry—we’re back!

Welcome to Episode 65 of The Chronicle Film Podcast, where Paul is joined by Rosie and podcast newcomer Danny to review one of the year’s biggest superhero releases, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe searching for a fresh spark, can everyone’s favourite web-slinger restore fans’ faith in superhero cinema? Early worldwide box office numbers certainly suggest a hit, but as we’ve learned before, financial success doesn’t always equal a great film.

Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker/Spider-Man alongside Zendaya (MJ) and Jacob Batalon (Ned). They’re joined by an impressive supporting cast including Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman and Florence Pugh.

Set several years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the world may have forgotten Peter Parker—but Peter hasn’t forgotten his responsibility. Now living as a full-time crime fighter, a new threat emerges that puts both himself and the people he cares about in grave danger.

In this episode, we’ll discuss the story, performances, new characters, the role of Damage Control, Marvel’s current direction, and answer the biggest question of all…

Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day the superhero film Marvel desperately needed, or is it another disappointing chapter for the MCU?
