The Batman: Part II – Stellan Skarsgård Reportedly Rejects Key Role
A new report from Jeff Sneider at The Hot Mic has revealed that the role of Harvey Dent’s father, Christopher Dent, in the upcoming sequel The Batman: Part II remains uncast despite filming being months away.
According to Sneider, both Brad Pitt and Stellan Skarsgård have been offered and subsequently declined the role. It is unclear at this stage who will be approached as an alternative. Whoever is cast will be joining the likes of reported new additions Sebastian Stan, who is rumoured to be playing Harvey Dent and Scarlett Johansson as his wife, Gilda Dent, both unconfirmed parts just now. They will be joining returnees that include the likes of: Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon and Barry Keoghan as The Joker.
It is widely believed that filming will take place primarily at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, as well as returning to Liverpool and Glasgow. The project, like the last film, has no ties to the wider Gunn & Safran’s DC Universe, despite heavy rumours, though it is being produced by DC Studios.
Skarsgård turning down the role comes one month after Deadline’s Justin Kroll shared in an appearance on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox that there was “one big [role] left” to cast in the film, which he described as an “older role”. This matches the report about Harvey Dent’s father.
The Batman Part II is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on October 1st 2027.
