Sunday Short Theatre – My Dinner With Werner (2020)

If you enjoy your films full length or short with a retro setting you want to check out Maverick Moore‘s terrific short. This weeks Sunday short Theatre choice My Dinner With Werner takes us back to the mid 1980’s with a totally bonkers dinner date which Werner Herzog goes downhill after the arrival of an unwelcomed guest Kinski!
If you know your film history, the German filmmaker and actor Klaus Kinski didn’t have the best relationships despite making 5 films together which gave the controversial actor his international recognition. Moore‘s delightful film takes his love and fascination for Werner Herzog and the fact director and actor just wanted to murder each other.
My Dinner Wither Werner sees the young director on a blind dinner date, who suddenly finds himself with an unwelcomed guest. Kinski who decides to confront Werner and as the evening progressed it get decidedly crazier.
The film is 18 minutes long, and if you know the story between the two, you’ll love every minute. Even if you don’t, it’s still highly enjoyable…
Werner wants love, but Klaus has other plans.
Inspired by the real-life, totally bonkers “friendship” between legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog and controversial actor Klaus Kinski, and set during the finale of their notorious creative partnership in 1987, MY DINNER WITH WERNER is a wildly bizarre comedy about a dinner date with a murder plot as the main dish.
The cast for this short is Matthew Sanders as Werner, Andrew Perez as Klaus, Chynna Walker as Christine. They are joined by Grant Virtue, Trey Dickerson, Brenda Henderson, and Ka Beesler.
