Sunday Short Theatre – Bump (2022)

Have you ever watched the American wrestling and laughed at how easy arguments start to set up matches? Yes over the top, stupid but fun for the fans. In this week’s Sunday Short Theatre Bump, we take that humour from wrestling breaks into a argument all in the name of retribution.
This week’s choice is short running at only 3 minutes long and was part of this year’s Sundance Film Festival. It’s directed by Iranian-Canadian filmmaker Maziyar Khatam who also stars in his film. Let’s be frank, we’ve all been on the our streets and someone has accidently bumped into you or vice versa? Khatam‘s fun little film sees two men walking along the street, what stars as a harmless bump fast turns into a full argument. The other man just wants one thing retribution, a chance to return the bump.
Over the years we’ve showcased plenty of longer short films all fantastic. Sometimes all you need is one simple thing that runs for only few minutes running time. Maziyar Khatam’s is one of those perfect examples and this film is inspired by one of favourite indie films, Jim Cummings Thunder Road. Need I say more!
A young man’s reluctance to let go of a trivial encounter leads him to seek retribution.
The film also stars Dylan Ray Hatton .
