Skyfall Destroys UK Box Office With Record Breaking Opening

This news is no surprise, but James Bond is certainly back with a blast as Skyfall opened at the weekend in UK&Ireland it has been nothing but a successful. In it’s 50th year James Bond movie 23 looks like it’s wiped away old demons of Quantum of Solace with a box office return of £20.1 million weekend open and with fantastic reviews (read our here) UK’s greatest fictional spy is back on form.
The box office return broke a few records for the franchise including the best Saturday box office sales however the great return marks the second biggest 3 day opening box office with Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 been the best. Skyfall was highest weekend opening, best 2D opening but $20.1million was only for UK box, the film also opened in various other countries around the world too
Deadline have reported the film has taken in $77.7million (£51 million) over 25 markets world wide with no surprise the film has went straight to number one as it’s done here with France taking in $9.1million and Russia $8.6million. This is fantastic news for the film a sigh of relief that the iconic franchise is back on form but also exciting future as the film hasn’t opened completely worldwide including the biggest market USA which is November 9th.
To further the great news for James Bond writer John Logan is set to return for James Bond 24 and 25 . According to The Hollywood Reporter Logan will write a two part story, a story which was not written by Ian Fleming, so exciting and original fun times ahead for 007!

London, October 29th – Eon Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment are delighted to announce that Skyfall made history this weekend as it opened to an incredible £20.1 million at the UK box office, making it the biggest Bond opening weekend of all time.
SKYFALL, the 23rd James Bond adventure, continuing the longest running and most successful franchise in film history, opened in 587 cinemas across the UK and Ireland on Friday 26th October. It will release in the US on November 9th.
