Rocky spin off Creed gets new trailer

Finally realising that another Rocky film wouldn’t have quite the same draw it once did, Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler has taken the franchise in a different direction with Creed. The new film sees Coogler reunite with his Fruitvale Station lead Michael B Jordan to tell the story of Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis.

Although a completely different tone and style from the original franchise, the themes are still recogniseable – a young man wanting a better life for himself by stepping inside the ring. Of course, young Adonis could do with a hand from an old friend of his father’s…

We have to say, the trailer looks very promising with Michael B Jordan looking very good indeed. Hopefully Creed can live up to it’s promise and take the much-loved sports franchise into a new and different direction.

Creed also stars Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, and Phylicia Rashad.
